Event(s) of a Lifetime

If you have ever sung in the Don Thompson Chorale, or in the Chorale at Florida Junior College/FCCJ under the direction of Don Thompson, this is for you. Photos above are just a few that were taken at the 1984 and 1994 reunions of the Don Thompson-era FJC Chorales. Many more photos from the FJC days and during the course of the Don Thompson Chorale are in albums on the Don Thompson Chorale Facebook page. Alumni and current DTC members can request an invitation to join the Don Thompson Chorale network for communications specific to these groups.

The Don Thompson Chorale (DTC) hosted a reunion concert of all Don Thompson-era FJC Chorales and the DTC at

7:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2012 in the Jacoby Symphony Hall at the Times Union Center for the Performing Arts (aka The Civic Auditorium) in Jacksonville, Florida. The concert was a tremendous success with an attendence of appoximately 750 listeners.

The concert afforded alumni and Chorale supporters the opportunity to honor Mr. T on the occasion of his 75th birthday. The combined choir was pleased to have him direct the Chorale's traditional closing selection, Hymn & Prayer for Peace. Concert goers and singers are still enjoying the event through our page on Facebook -- please look us up at The concert was recorded and is available on CD. Please contact us if you would like a CD and a copy of the concert program.

Only months after the Celebration/Reunion concert, Mr. T was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease, but not before he and former student Mary Hicks (FJC Chorale accompanist, 1974-75) were married. Mary was his steadfast caregiver until he passed away on March 10, 2017, while the Chorale's recording of Hymn & Prayer for Peace was being played for him. Past and present members of the FJC and DTC are to sing Hymn and Prayer at the April 1 memorial service in Thomaston, GA, his boyhood home and destination of choice to spend his retirement. UPCOMING REUNION: Plans are in the works for our 25th Season (2020-2021) and we are working on the details of a REUNION CONCERT in the Spring of 2021. Stay tuned for updates.
