AUDITION

the process

We usually audition a prospective member after he/she has attended between one and three rehearsals. At the beginning of a fall season, the director will schedule a time for multiple auditions aside from regular rehearsal evenings; however, during the course of the season an audition may be scheduled after a rehearsal. During the audition, the prospect vocalizes to demonstrate range, may sing a simple song from a list suggested by the director or perhaps a prepared piece, in addition to reading through some sightreading exercises. In order to provide useful feedback, we assess a numeric score (between 1 and 5) on several components. "Getting in" is not dependent on a specific score, but the score allows us to provide feedback and help address any areas of concern. Click here for a detailed description of these components.
